With support from Un Ponte Per, Ghars Relief and Integrated Development distributed 62 water tanks to displaced families in Ansar 6 Camp in Gaza City, in response to growing water needs with the onset of summer and rising temperatures. This initiative enables families to store water safely and alleviates the daily burdens associated with securing water.
The intervention comes amid ongoing challenges faced by displaced families in accessing water, due to limited sources and irregular supply, making the provision of safe storage solutions an essential necessity for maintaining public health and meeting daily needs.
The distribution covered the most vulnerable families within the camp, based on a needs assessment and survey conducted by the Ghars team to ensure that support reaches the most marginalized groups.
Alaa Mohammed, a displaced woman living in Ansar 6 Camp, emphasized the importance of the water tank in meeting her family’s daily needs, saying:
“Before, I constantly struggled with water shortages. We would only receive water once or twice a week. After receiving the water tank, I was able to store water for drinking and washing, without having to worry every day about how we would secure enough water.”
Ghars for Relief and Integrated Development Association continues to implement humanitarian interventions across a range of relief and development sectors, with a particular focus on water, essential humanitarian services, and community empowerment programs. These interventions aim to respond to the growing needs of families across the Gaza Strip and help mitigate the impact of the highly complex humanitarian and economic conditions they continue to face.
